The Premise
We started with a love of stand-up comedy and a desire to use this art form to educate, empower, and teach kids in underserved communities that their ideas matter.
Through group classes and one-on-one mentorship, students learn the basic fundamentals of stand-up comedy and craft their very own stand-up set. At the end of each session, the students perform their material on stage.
We piloted the program in 2016 at the New Los Angeles Charter School with two classes of very brave middle schoolers. In 2019 we completed nine sessions in eight different schools or organizations. We look forward to growing stand up with comedy across more schools and age ranges.

ALISON TIGERMAN
Executive Director
Alison Tigerman is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where she obtained her Master of Social and Community Planning from the Sol Price School of Policy, Planning, and Development. Prior to attending graduate school, her professional career and volunteer experience focused on the areas of community engagement, civic activism, and public health. Her interest in these areas was ignited in the early years of her academic career at the University of Illinois where she was a member of the college’s Habitat for Humanity chapter and took part in the East St. Louis Action Research project. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning, she moved to Los Angeles and continued to pursue these interests in her professional endeavors. Working with programs such as Mending Kids International and Cedars Sinai Medical Center’s COACH for Kids, and interning with local organizations such as the Arthritis Foundation and City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, she gained a deeper understanding of the need for open mindedness and thoughtful engagement within communities. Alison currently
resides in Los Angeles.
Reg Tigerman is a talent manager and producer at Levity Live, working with the industry’s leading comedians, writers and actors — or just people he finds incredibly funny. He turned a passion for comedy and a goal to figure out a way to see comedy shows for free into a career that has allowed him to travel everywhere from Portland to India, doing business with and experiencing the best comedy the world has to offer. Prior to working at Levity, Reg held positions across various sectors of the entertainment industry: at the production company 51 Minds, the Fox network, on various shows including Talkshow with Spike Feresten, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and at Marc Platt Productions. Reg received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication at the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Mask and Wig Club. Reg currently resides in and is a rare native of Los Angeles, CA.
